Product Overview
ADM488ABRMZ is a full-duplex, low power, slew rate limited, EIA RS-485 transceiver. It is suitable for communication on multipoint bus transmission lines. It is intended for balanced data transmission and comply with both RS-485 and RS-422 standards of the EIA. It contains a single differential line driver and a single differential line receiver, making them suitable for full-duplex data transfer. The input impedance is 12Kohm, allowing 32 transceivers to be connected on the bus. Excessive power dissipation that is caused by bus contention or output shorting is prevented by a thermal shutdown circuit. This feature forces the driver output into a high impedance state if, during fault conditions, a significant temperature increase is detected in the internal driver circuitry. Application includes low power RS-485 and RS-422 systems, DTE-DCE interface, packet switching, local area networks, data concentration, data multiplexers, integrated services digital network (ISDN).

- ±4kV HBM ESD protection on all pins, single 5V ±10% supply
- Bus common-mode range from -7V to +12V
- Connect up to 32 nodes on the bus, reduced slew rate for low EM interference
- Short-circuit protection, power supply current is 30µA typical at (DE = 0V (disabled))
- Differential output voltage is 5V max (R = ∞, VCC = 5V ±10%)
- Receiver skew is 100ns typical at (VCC = 5V ±10%)
- Driver rise fall time is 250ns minimum at (RL differential = 54 ohm, CL1 = CL2 = 100pF)
- 8-lead MSOP package, temperature range from -40°C to +85°C
