Product Overview
The MAX1480EACPI+ is a ±15KV ESD protected, isolated RS485/RS422 data interface in 28 pin DIP package. It is a complete, electrically isolated RS485/RS422 data communication interface solution in a hybrid microcircuit. The I/O pins are protected against ±15KV ESD shocks without latch-up. Transceivers, optocouplers and transformer provide a complete interface in a standard DIP package. A single +5V supply on logic side powers both sides of the interface. The MAX1480EA driver slew rate is not limited and it allows transmission rate up to 2.5Mbps. Drivers are short circuit current limited and protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdown circuitry that places the driver outputs into a high impedance state. The receiver input has a fail-safe feature that provides a known output (complementary RO pin is low) if input is open circuit. It is used in telecom, automatic test equipment, HVAC/building control networks and EMI sensitive applications.
